The Rev. Dean Berg began knocking on doors on September 1, 1966. The first worship service was held at Thoreau School on October 30 of that year with 120 in attendance. The present site was purchased December 20, 1966. Charter Sunday was March 5, 1967, with 169 signing the charter. Organization Sunday was April 9th, with 196 members.
